Purcell Miller Tritton

Architects practice Purcell Miller Tritton was founded in Cambridge in 1947 and now has 15 offices across the UK from London to York, Sheffield to Norwich.

Each office had 3 in-house servers which meant that not only did Purcell Miller Tritton have to finance the power to run and cool over 50 servers but it also had to finance multiple licences for software programmes.

When the latest replacement cycle for the servers was due, CIS proposed that Purcell Miller Tritton consider virtualisation and move their servers to the cloud to condense the number of servers required thus saving significant costs. Purcell Miller Tritton did not have to purchase any new hardware and so saved on capex as they were able to pay monthly once their servers had been virtualised to the cloud.

The initial server to be virtualised was their group administration, a single system used by all the PA’s and accountants across the organisation. In addition CIS set up a local cloud for each office for their own local server to store local documents and systems that do not need to be shared.

“CIS always come up with solutions using the latest technology to that fit what we want, when we want it. The virtualisation project was implemented smoothly and we are now saving significant costs as well as working smarter.”
