Meet the Team 

Neill D J Lawson-Smith
BSc (Hons) C.Eng FBCS Eur.Ing CiTP CiSE CiSP MIAP MCSE MCP+I VCP VTSP

Neill is the managing director of the company and the most Senior IT Consultant within CIS. Neill has a classical IT-trained background having gained BSc (Hons) in IT Information Systems and Business in 1989. Neill brings over 26 years of IT consultancy experience to the table, and is highly respected in many areas of IT both in the UK and overseas. Neill is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and is well known for his input to the future of computing in the UK. Neill also has full Microsoft Certified System Engineer Accreditation, one of the hardest and most recognized levels of expertise to achieve and Chartered Engineer status, including the prestigious Chartered IT Professional qualification. Neill's main skill is assisting small and medium businesses to develop strategic IT plans and to implement those ideas through to completion. Working closely with venture capital companies, Neill offers a host of ideas and solutions for the smallest startups and fledgling companies. Previous larger projects include work for Argos, British Airways, Sony Entertainment Europe and the prestigious Reform Club in London. Neill remains focused on the SME market with businesses with between 10 and 250 people. The most recent addition to Neill's customer wins is St Paul's Cathedral in London, where CIS have been appointed IT consultant.

Richard Marsh
BSc (Hons) MBCS VSP WCSP VCP IEEE VTSP

Richard,  a director at CIS manages the majority of CIS IT projects. Formerly a senior IT consultant Richard has experience in many aspects of IT and a particular skill-set related to networking and security. With a BSc (Hons) in Computer Systems Engineering, Richard offers a rare understanding of how software and hardware interact at every level. Gaining his latest qualification (VCP) Richard now offers the highest levels of VMware and virtualisation skills. Richard has directed IT for larger corporations such as Autonomy (AU. or AU.L) taking them through mergers and acquisitions. Richard has also helped to start and build smaller companies on very small budgets, assisting growth into multinational companies and eventually IPO, the most successful being blinkx (BLNX), the worlds largest and most advanced video search engine. Richard has a vast experience working on worldwide scales, with projects over most of North America and parts of Europe. Now concentrating his skills on virtualisation and the SME market Richard helps CIS to provide some of the first class solutions that help many smaller companies grow and achieve contract wins in markets above their level.

Tim Smith

Tim is a highly experienced systems Consultant with extensive knowledge of SMEs and experience in Trade Union IT Infrastructure. Tim specialises in the development of financial and management systems and his accounting background gives our clients an insight to management accounting at a very complex level. Tim offers a bridge for CIS' clients between IT strategies and solutions, and the skills needed to manage an implementation as part of overall business development. He has dealt extensively with project management including system infrastructure design and specification, most recently in areas such as virtualisation and thin client. In his field Tim has gained a reputation for combining analytical and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a management team.

Matt Grantham

Matt has been at CIS just over three years. He is a driving force among many of our projects and is constantly developing and updating his skill set. Matt will be sitting the VCP course soon and will then begin his career path toward virtualisation and cloud computing with everybody else at CIS. Matt has an excellent knowledge of networking and software applications used in the industry on a daily basis. Matt has worked in various industry sectors including manufacturing, advertising and marketing. Matt designs and develops solutions and has great understanding of individual user needs as well as training individuals and groups.

Tony Pemberton

Tony started with CIS in September 2009, following 18 years in the military where he was responsible for organising IT logistics. Tony brings precision and organisation to projects and is now running a team delivering larger installs. With a vast range of skills and a way of adapting to any situation quickly, Tony is an excellent senior engineer, bringing focus to our designs and installs ensuring they are delivered on time and in budget. Tony has VMware qualifications and is heading up a small team of VMware engineers to build and maintain our Cloud technology.

We work hard to ensure things do what they are supposed to and when they are supposed to. I am enjoying the new angle on IT at CIS and look forward to a fruitful future for us and our clients."

Caius Galliers

Caius is our newest recruit, heading up our help desk and support team. He is proficient and a quick thinker, giving the customer the best chance of fixing the issue on first contact. CIS aims to achieve high standards in respect of customer response times and on ticket closures, Caius has helped to bring response times down and resolution numbers up. Caius  has experience in mainly windows environments and a strong background in the IT side of manufacture and production. Caius is a keen learner and willing to help on all issues as existing customers will confirm.
