CIS, an oxford based It Consultancy specialising in Private Cloud Computing has become a member of OXCRI, the OxTreeGen Carbon Reduction Initiative. OXCRI recognises organisations that have made a commitment to reduce their carbon footprint.
Richard Marsh, CIS’s director, commented, “We are a green IT company and offer green solutions wherever possible, our Cloud offering being the latest in our green technology portfolio. We are constantly making effort to reduce our carbon footprint and that of our customers, as we make further efforts by joining OXCRI we are excited about becoming even greener! CIS works with may companies that are striving to meet new guidelines on their carbon footprint, the environment is a concern to us all, as a business with technology solutions at our fingertips we are keen to help as many companies as possible become greener, and be recognised for that effort. Becoming a member of OXCRI is one of the many ways we considered our impact on the environment and reduced this through internal change.”
OXCRI represents the interests of its members by promoting and providing solutions to help reduce their carbon footprint. Nick Thomas of OxTreeGen concludes, “Each OXCRI member will have a tree planted within Oxfordshire on unique plot numbers helping to create, manage and protect new woodlands and habitats. All our carbon offset projects are UK based and audited, helping to increase the general awareness surrounding the issue of climate change and CO2 emissions to businesses.”
CIS is also taking part in another local scheme (FoneTwigs) to collect old mobile phones in association with OXCRI, in aid of Climate Week (March 21st – 27th) – helping them meet a target of 2011 old phones, and replacing them with 2011 trees being planted in the Oxfordshire countryside. Richard Marsh, CIS’s director, commented, “Please send us any old mobiles and we will see they are suitable recycled and exchanged for flourishing green tress”.
